This project will provide Career and Employment Information Services to approximately 700 unemployed and underemployed Albertans living in rural areas of Central Region using a multi-site distance delivery format. Services include Two Week Sessions, Stand Alone Workshops and Exposure Courses.
Career and Employment Information Services (CEIS) help Albertans to understand the labour market, to make informed career decisions, develop realistic education, training and employment plans and to prepare for, find and maintain work.
TWO WEEK SESSIONS
Provide sessions that are two weeks in duration – one week of full day facilitation followed by one week of reduced involvement based upon client need delivered in a drop in format.
STAND ALONE WORKSHOPS
Provide workshops (separate from the Two Week Sessions) that address a variety of career and employment needs of rural clients such as career planning, work search, personal development, and labour market information.
EXPOSURE COURSES
Exposure Courses provide job ready individuals with funding for short-term courses in order to assist individuals to obtain the certification and/or the job specific skills they require to meet conditions of employment in a specific occupation as prescribed by employer or industry expectations.
DELIVERY METHOD
The Two Week Sessions and Stand Alone Workshops will be delivered in a group format, at multiple sites across Central Alberta using a distance delivery format. For example, clients may be located in several different communities throughout Central Region participating in the same session/workshop led by a virtual facilitator. They key to this approach is a central lead site where the facilitator is located and many joining end points who become a part of the virtual classroom. Some end points may have only one participant, while others may have many. In this contract, virtual delivery is defined as a coordinated interactive virtual environment, it is not E-Learning.
LOCATION
Multiple rural locations in the Central Region area of Community & Social Services, excluding the city of Red Deer. The communities where service is offered may be flexible depending on need, however comprehensive coverage of Central Region is desired. While service locations can be covered on a rotational basis, the intent is for monthly delivery to be maximized.
