Alberta’s provincial parks and recreation areas conserve our natural heritage and provide popular nature-based recreation opportunities to visitors from across the province and around the world. They also play a major role in Alberta’s tourism industry, providing opportunities for small businesses and having positive impacts on the economies of many local communities.
Alberta Environment and Parks (the Province) is seeking business entities or non-profit organizations to provide park operations and maintenance services, including at campgrounds and day use areas, for Brazeau Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/central/brazeau-reservoir-pra/
Brazeau Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area is located approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Drayton Valley Alberta on Highway 620. There are two campgrounds and one group use area included in the Brazeau Reservoir Operating Group.
• Reservoir Loops campground has 33 non-serviced campsites and 20 campsites with power and includes amenities such as access to a boat launch, fire pits, fish cleaning stations, and pit/vault toilets. Activities at the Loops Campgrounds are fishing, canoeing/kayaking, sailing, wind surfing, geocaching, birding, water skiing, wildlife viewing, powerboating and snowmobiling (off-site).
• West Canal campground consists of 18 non-serviced campsites and a day use area. This small campground is located near the waterfront and is well treed and consists of a day use area with boat launch, 18 non-serviced campsites, fire pits, fish cleaning stations, interpretive viewpoint and pit/vault toilets. Activities at the West Canal location include fishing, powerboating or canoeing on the reservoir with OHV trails located nearby, but prohibited within the campground.
• The Main Group Use area can accommodate group camping up to 35 units. This campground offers access to picnic tables, fire pits, boat launch , fish cleaning stations, horseshoe pits, picnic shelter and pit/vault toilets.
The Facility Operating Agreement will be for a five year term commencing February 15th, 2020.
Primary services provided as part of this Agreement include:
• operation and maintenance of the premises;
• provision of excellent customer service to visitors:
• collection of approved fees from visitors for use of the premises;
• public safety and control;
• managing access to the premises; and
• contacting local authorities for enforcement needs.
