Description

The Ministry is searching for a RFP for the procurement of 332 North American large mesh and 335 Ontario small mess gill nets, annually over the 2 year period to meet work that is part of the annual program to monitor Provincially Significant Inland Fisheries (and inland lakes throughout Ontario). Field program delivery relies on undamaged nets to collect fish. Damaged gear reduces the number of lakes studied and results of field work will not have sufficient data to effectively inform fisheries management decisions. Nets are easily damaged during regular use and net replacement of nets that cannot be repaired is an important and necessary component of maintaining consistent fish catches and collecting high quality data.

This procurement is very important to the delivery of MNRF’s fisheries monitoring programs. The procurement is for two types of gill nets (large mesh to capture large bodied fish such as lake trout, and a small mesh type to capture small bodied fish such as younger fish). These nets will be used to monitor 11 provincially significant inland lakes and 133 other inland lakes annually.
Scope of Work
The Ministry requires 332 North American large mesh and 335 Ontario small mess gill nets, annually, to meet work that is part of the annual program to monitor Provincially Significant Inland Fisheries (and inland lakes throughout Ontario) for its operations season (June-October).
