The Government of Alberta (“GoA”) is transforming the work of government to deliver simpler, more efficient, and better services for the citizens of Alberta in the digital age. A dedicated Digital Innovation Office (“DIO”) has recently been established to drive digital innovation across government. The DIO is working with the Department of Education (“AE”) on an exemplar innovation project – a new LearnAlberta application (“NLA Application”) to be operated on a Cloud Platform. The NLA Application will provide the GoA with a better understanding of Cloud Platforms and their functionality by demonstrating whether a Cloud Platform and its services (such as machine learning and artificial intelligence) can minimize costs, infrastructure overhead and maintenance efforts, advance analytics insight, and achieve efficiency and value.
The Project will result in the NLA Application operating in a production environment on a Cloud Platform. When operating on a Cloud Platform, the NLA Application should be able to handle current as well as anticipated peak workloads and should provide Alberta teachers with teaching supports through the ability to load teaching resources to the NLA Application.
The Province wishes to contract with a Cloud Platform service provider capable of delivering a Cloud Platform for the NLA Application and its stakeholders.
