ON-003419 - Notice of Intent- Theatre Management Services

Notice is hereby given by the Royal BC Museum Corporation ("RBCM") of its intent to enter into a contract with Destination Cinema Canada Inc., (DCCI) to provide theatre management services to what is known as the IMAX® theatre, located on the RBCM site at 675 Belleville Street in Victoria BC.

The current theatre management service contract with DCCI is set to expire, and a new contract is intended to be established within the next few months. Any future contract for theatre management services will be for a period of one year following the date of contract execution with options to renew, at the sole discretion of the RBCM, for four (4) additional one-year periods.

Rationale for Contract

· RBCM's current lease agreement with the IMAX theatre operator, DCCI, is ending. For continuity of service, RBCM is seeking to award a new operating contract with DCCI.
· The current theatre management service provider DCCI;

a) Has been providing theatre management services under contract to the RBCM for the past 20 years;
b) Has knowledge of the site and can maintain the consistency and quality of service leading up to any future modernization of the site;
c) Has existing license agreements;
d) Has service contracts in place with suppliers to continue conducting daily operations and provide economies of scale;
e) Has knowledgeable staff and labour pool available; and
f) Has intimate knowledge of the local market.

Vendors wishing to object to this decision should contact Jerry Gauthier, Procurement Specialist, Procurement Services Branch, by facsimile on or before 2:00 PM on January 30th, 2020 with specific reasons for the objection. A company's past experience providing similar services, and their ability to provide these services for the same or better cost within the same time frame will be key considerations for determining the validity of any objections.
