Description

Detailed Description
The Ministry is exploring the implementation of a modernized, digital delivery channel to support the skilled trades and apprenticeship in Ontario. This channel will provide access to online services for skilled trades and apprenticeship clients through a client-facing digital portal which will adhere to the following principles:

• Support a “one-window” digital-first delivery model for skilled trades and apprenticeship clients.
• Support a wide range of functions and be scalable, flexible and adaptable.
• Support all skilled trades and apprenticeship clients, including apprentices, sponsors, group sponsors, college and non-college Training Delivery Agents (TDAs), and journeypersons.
• Support reporting and analytics functions.
• Be cost effective.
• Be delivered in a timely manner and incrementally, with priority functionality in early releases.
• Be aligned with Ontario’s Digital Service Standard and Information and Technology Standards
Scope of Work
The skilled trades and apprenticeship digital portal is anticipated to support the following high-level client-facing functions.

1. Apprentices and sponsors can apply and register for apprenticeship training, including payment of fees and e-signing of training agreements.
2. Apprentices can track skills they’ve learned on the job, and sponsors can approve skills that have been completed.
3. Apprentices can search, register and pay for in-class training, at a Training Delivery Agent of their choosing.
4. Apprentices and their sponsors can see which activities have been completed and what is left to do.
5. Apprentices and sponsors can view and apply for financial incentives, such as grants and bonuses.
6. On completion of training have the option to receive an e-certificate and / or printed certificate.
7. Clients can register and pay for exams and view results.
8. Journeypersons can renew and pay for certification.
9. Clients can receive electronic communication and automated notifications.
