Description

In 2019, the Province announced the construction of various schools, including a new school in Leduc. The area for the school is currently undeveloped and requires substantial off-site work to meet the school’s servicing requirements. Off-site design services are required to be completed in early 2020 with the site servicing (construction) expected to be completed in late 2020/early 2021 to allow school construction in 2021. It is important that the school off-site services be designed and constructed in coordination with the school design timelines and construction schedule.

It is the intent of the City to award this procurement for the following reasons:
• This work is specific to the immediate needs of the school site and is not for the remainder of the Crystal Creek subdivision or any unrelated site works.
• Al-Terra was previously contracted to review preliminary site options and design an interim servicing site plan to inform the City of financial impacts and considerations regarding school site options.
• From a cost and time perspective using information and design already developed expedites the ability to undertake the site servicing construction to meet the school construction schedule.
• Al-Terra is familiar with the land development requirements for this site. This allows Al-Terra to expedite the progress of the design services for this project.
• Al-Terra is independent from any legal processes currently ongoing in regards to Crystal Creek.
