F5211-190627 - Arctic phytoplankton samples for organic carbon, nitrogen and stable isotopes (F5211-190627)

The Contractor must analyze up to a maximum of 415 samples per fiscal year. The samples are collected on pre-combusted 21 mm Whatman glass fiber filters (GFF). Each filter (samples and blanks) will be analyzed for particulate organic carbon and nitrogen and stable isotopes d13C and d15N. Raw data and final concentrations (mg carbon or nitrogen) will be provided. Sample analyses shall follow standard operating procedures for particulate nutrient and stable isotopic analyses, including routine blank and standard checks and quality control protocols.

Samples will be shipped from the Marine Productivity Laboratory, Freshwater Institute Winnipeg, to the Contractor. All analyses will be completed at the Contractor’s facility. Samples will not be returned, they are destroyed during analyses. The Marine Productivity laboratory will provide a list detailing which samples are to be analyzed. Marine productivity will clearly label all samples with a sample name. The Contractor will provide final data corresponding to same sample names.

The Contractor must process and analyze samples (on GFF filters) according to standard protocols for particulate material and stable isotopic analyses.

The Contractor must provide sample and blank raw and final data for the following:

particulate organic carbon (mg C)

particulate organic nitrogen (mg N)

isotope d13C

isotope d15N

The Contractor must provide details of standard checks.

The Contractor must inform Marine Productivity Laboratory if samples are below detection limit.
