Contract Writer/Peer Reviewer for Distance Learning Course

Purpose of Request for Proposal
Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC) requires the services of a Contract Writer(s)/Peer Reviewer(s) to work with our online course development team. ADLC, operated by Pembina Hills School Division under a service agreement with Alberta Education, offers educational opportunities to Grade 1-12 students in print, online, and blended formats. ADLC is a critical partner in the Alberta education system, providing 21st-century education opportunities to meet the diverse and evolving needs of Alberta’s students and the workplace. This contract will commence as soon as possible. Work will be performed off-site. The contract will be awarded on the basis of an initial interview. A Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check (VSCs) dated within one year must be provided prior to employment.
Requirements:
- Valid Alberta teaching certificate
- Knowledge and experience with Forestry (good understanding of the Alberta Programs of Study)
- Good understanding of Universal Design for Learning principles, 21st Century Skills, and formative and summative assessment strategies
- Knowledge of online course design
- Adhere to specific performance expectations
- Work off-site
- Follow Quality Matters online standards rubric
- Follow ADLC resource Audit criteria
- Communicate via telephone, internet and email
- Attend occasional meetings as requested by the ADLC project lead teacher
- Provide at the Contractor’s cost, all equipment (minimum of Windows XP SP2 operating system and utilize Microsoft Office Suite 2007 and - Google Suite), materials, supplies and services required to perform the Services herein, including but not limited to any computer equipment, software, high-speed internet service, office supplies, photocopying, telephone service, courier or delivery services and any typing services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to create innovative and engaging learning opportunities
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction
- Understanding of design and layout
- Experience in writing of curriculum-based materials for instructional purposes
- Experience and understanding of industry standards for safety in the workplace
- Experience in teaching and writing content for the Alberta Distance Learning Centre
- Willingness to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to work with a preset ADLC Style Guide
- Experience building online courses in an LMS (e.g. Moodle)

- Awarded contracts will be a term contract with the option of renewal at the sole discretion of the Designate of ADLC and the Superintendent of Schools.
