Alberta’s provincial parks and recreation areas conserve our natural heritage and provide popular nature-based recreation opportunities to visitors from across the province and around the world. They also play a major role in Alberta’s tourism industry, providing opportunities for small businesses and having positive impacts on the economies of many local communities.
Alberta Environment and Parks (the Province) is seeking business entities or non-profit organizations to provide park operations and maintenance services, including at campgrounds and day use areas, for the Gregoire Lake Operating Group.
Gregoire Lake Operating Group is comprised of Gregoire Lake Provincial Park (PP), which includes the nearby Anzac and South Shore Day use areas, Engstrom Provincial Recreation Area (PRA), Hangingstone PRA, and Maqua Lake PRA.
• Gregoire Lake PP is located 19km south of Fort McMurray on Hwy.63 and 10 km east on Hwy.881. There are 140 power campsites and many amenities, including a store, flush toilets, showers, playgrounds and day use area including a boat launch. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/northeast/gregoire-lake-pp/information-facilities/camping/gregoire-lake/
• South Shore Day Use Area is located approx. 8.5 km east of Gregoire Lake PP on Hwy. 881 and includes a boat launch. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/northeast/gregoire-lake-pp/information-facilities/day-use/gregoire-lake/
• Anzac Day Use Area is located about 17 km east of Gregoire Lake PP campground on Hwy 881 and includes a picnic area, playground, small beach and boat launch. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/northeast/gregoire-lake-pp/information-facilities/day-use/anzac/
• Engstrom Lake PRA is located 50 km South of Gregoire Lake PP on Hwy. 881 and includes a day use and boat launch. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/northeast/engstrom-lake-pra/information-facilities/
• Hangingstone PRA is located 35km south of Fort McMurray on Hwy. 63, which is 24km South/West from Gregoire Lake PP. This Park has basic facilities, with 56 unserviced campsites that are suitable for tents or RVs. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/northeast/hangingstone-pra/information-facilities/
• Maqua Lake PRA is located 50 km south of Fort McMurray and 20 km East of Hangingstone PRA on Range Road 90B, and includes a group use and day use area. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/northeast/maqua-lake-pra/
The Facility Operating Agreement will be for a five year term commencing February 15th, 2020.
Primary services provided as part of this Agreement include:
• operation and maintenance of the premises;
• provision of excellent customer service to visitors:
• collection of approved fees from visitors for use of the premises;
• public safety and control;
• managing access to the premises; and
• contacting local authorities for enforcement needs.
