The Faculty of Sciences Machine Shop currently houses one (1) CNC milling center, two (2) CNC knee mills and one (1) CNC lathe. The machine shop is seeking to expand their current capabilities to meet present and future demand for parts manufacturing which is not possible with the current dated shop equipment.
The intent of this RFP is to select one Proponent for the supply, delivery and installation of a CNC 3 Axis Vertical Machining Center that reflects a combination of size and functionality with an efficient design that conserves space has a small footprint and large working cube. Adding one (1) CNC 3 Axis Milling Machine to the shop will facilitate the fabrication of various parts made from metals including but not limited to mild steel, stainless steel or non-ferrous metals (i.e. aluminum). In addition, the machine shop will be able to streamline the workflow and enhance service to the University.
CNC machines have been acquired in the past and therefore there is significant experience in programming and operating these machines. Our technologists, which have many years of experience with CNC mills, will be operating this machine.
