This Request for Supplier Qualification is an invitation by the University of Ottawa to companies to submit Proposals for a modern bilingual access control solution that can function as an interoperable member of a security ecosystem and meets the operational and access control needs of the University of Ottawa. Solutions that meet the University’s needs may be shortlisted and included as a purchase option in a future procurement process.
The University of Ottawa has a 1400+ reader Facility Commander Wnx system. The system not only controls access controlled doors, but also controls access to AV podiums, elevators, intrusion detection alarm points and some life safety alarms. Additionally, Facility Commander and much of the hardware the system utilizes has been designated end of life by the manufacturer.
This access control modernization effort is focused on cost-effective technology that is forward looking, secure, intelligent, open and flexible. Integration tops the list of priorities. Integration with the University’s event scheduling software platform, with the University’s video surveillance system, visitor management systems, Identity Management Systems, One Card systems, Realtime Location Services systems, Work Order system, Building automation systems, as well as integration with access control solution used by student housing, and the ability to have some integration with Facility Commander Wnx to make the transition from old to new less cumbersome.
