Scope – Orientation and Self-Assessment Tool
Orientation and self-assessment tools (OSAT) are meant to be accessed by potential applicants before they leave their home country to Canada. They are specifically mentioned as a key component of the immigration process (for those seeking entry into regulated professions) by the Forum of Labour Market Ministers (FLMM) as part of their Pathways to Recognition (2009).
The primary objective of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to engage a consultant to develop an OSAT that can be accessed by IEDTPs prior to leaving their home country and used to assess how closely their education and experience meets Canadian requirements for the profession; and identify any eligibility and competency gaps they will need to address before or upon arrival in Canada.
Pre-arrival supports are meant to fulfill a number of interrelated objectives for all potential applicants including:

• Orientation to the scope of dental technology practice in Canada
• Providing a clear understanding of what professional practice is like in Canada
• Providing a list of resources that are relevant to Canadian dental technology education programs
• Providing relevant, actionable information to make well‐informed decisions about applying for immigration to Canada and licensing before leaving their home country

2. Interactive, which will provide applicants an interactive opportunity to:

• compare their education curriculum and content by using the PSCA checklist and report the results to the applicant
• compare their knowledge and experience to the entry-to-practice competencies and performance indicators by completing an interactive checklist
• complete free assessments (sample of Competency-based Assessments including practical-based assessment) and report the results to the applicant
• have a clickable map of Canada which leads applicants to the website of the appropriate local regulatory body
• have a customizable “Cost Estimator” intended to provide applicants with a sense of the expenses
• have a clickable Registration Pathway which leads applicant to the relative information and/or website
