Description

The City of Clarence-Rockland is looking to complete a secondary plan for an area located west of Rockland (Special Study Area 1). The area includes approximately 36 hectares and is under multiple ownership.

The requirement to prepare a Secondary Plan for this area is primordial. The Secondary Plan will be adopted by Council in the form of an amendment to the Urban Area of the City of Clarence-Rockland’s Official Plan. The Secondary Plan process will be integrated with the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process. EA approval is required for municipal infrastructure such as water, sanitary and storm sewers and roads. The integrated process allows approvals, reviews and public consultations to be coordinated. Requirements of both the Environmental Assessment Act and the Planning Act will therefore be satisfied.

The planning and coordination of the infrastructure and environmental management requirements for the Secondary Plan in consultation with the community will ensure an integrated approach.
